The Moment You Know Everything is Coming Together

I’m sitting in Barnes and Noble in Union Square, New York writing this post and looking around in amazement. What’s the big deal, it’s just a bookstore, right?

But I’m looking at a bigger picture. Something a lot bigger than just sitting in a bookstore typing away on my computer.

The Moment You Realize What You’ve Got

My reason for being in New York today was to meet up with my buddy, Lewis Howes. I’ve done work for Lewis in the past, and have emailed him back and forth quite a few times. I’ve just never met him face to face.

So today, we met up in a coffee shop and had a good conversation for a couple of hours. If you’re not familiar with his work, you should check out his website to get an idea. He’s a really cool, determined guy with a lot of passion for what he does and is going to absolutely rock 2012.

After we went our separate ways I couldn’t help but start thinking that I was living my dream at last.

Here I am, 18 years old, in one of the greatest cities on Earth meeting a guy who’s wildly successful at what he does and is just having a damn good time living life.

For the longest time, since the age of 13, I’ve always wanted to set out on my own. To do what makes me happy. And it just clicked, that I’m actually doing it.

Between writing blog posts, creating WordPress themes and freelancing design projects I am incredibly happy and having the time of my life.

If you would have told me that I’d be going to New York in a few years by myself, to meet up with a guy like Lewis (who actually invited me to lunch), I’d never have believed you.

It’d be too good to be true, and it’s just not something that would ever happen to me.

But here I am, sitting in an ordinary bookstore thinking how fortunate I am and how bright my future is going to be.

It’s all coming together, finally, and I couldn’t be more excited to see what tomorrow has in store.

Your Extraordinary Life is in Your Hands

A huge lesson I’ve learned, not just from talking to Lewis, but from actually living it, is that anything that happens in your life is the result of a decision you make.

So why not start making good decisions now, that will lead you to the extraordinary life you want to live?

Make the decisions that will finally help put everything into perspective and that will start shifting things to go your way.

Take it from me. I’m just a kid from the country, but I know what I want.

And wow. I feel like I’m getting closer and closer to it each and every day.

  1. Great moment I guess. Actually you reminded me of the New York memory that I have had several years ago. I wish to go back there sooner 🙂

  2. Alex,

This post has made me feel inspired and motivated to continue what I do and love doing. I’ve always wanted to travel and I think I will make that my overall life goal. By travelling I will learn a lot and in conclusion I’ll be able to share the experience with friends around me.

  3. It’s all about decisions and the actions that derive from them. Tiny adjustments today make for a massive change in your future.

Glad to hear you’re riding on that feeling. The best part about it is that it has a tendency to grow and upward spiral the more you embrace it.

  4. It’s all about the people you meet man, and I’ve met a few awesome people who have definitely made an impression on me after hanging out with them for just a day.

    Get working!

  5. It’s like a snowball effect man, and it’s fun to look back and see how far you’ve come in even just a short time too.

  6. Nice Alex!

Here’s the thing – it’s good that you are recognizing this now. I just turned 30 and it’s scary when you have been procrastinating doing what you really want to for so long.

    Keep rockin’ it.

  7. 1. Love the new site
    2. Thanks for bringing back Kolakube
    3. Thanks for the HUGE hookup for old customers. Totally out of the blue!
    4. I need to upgrade my site from MD 1 ro MD2 now!

  8. Nice post Alex, Meeting with inspiring people who have been having success in things they do certainly helps in motivating us, nice to know you went through that feeling. Life is more about taking decisions and implementing it to the fullest. You certainly have worked hard in achieving what you have dreamed of. Best of luck for the future mate.

  9. It’s all about focus, which you have recently dialed in.

Lewis seems like a cool guy, I’m sure working with him can be fun. Keep chugging on what you love because I’m a firm believer that life is too short to do shit you hate.

  10. So fun to hear someone your age “get it” and “see it” for themselves! I have it! My husband has it! My daughter (21), can see it and is starting to really get it! But my son (23) is still pushing against the tide! You have a great, happy future ahead of you! Good for you!

  11. You know what man, at the end of the day – as long as you know what you’ve gotta do then who cares how old you are. 😀

  12. It was great, and I think the thing it showed me was that there really are people doing what I want to do, and that it is possible.

Sometime you need to get out of your own bubble and go meet these people. I’m glad I’ve done.

  13. Absolutely man, without focus…well, what the hell are you doing?!

Lewis is a great guy and I really encourage you to connect with him, he’s just a fun all-around dude.

  14. Sue,

I’m glad it’s clicking for you guys! Your son will find his thing sooner than he expects. It’s usually something that just kind of happens (at least from my experience), so as long as he stays determined it will absolutely click!

    Thanks for stopping by. 😀

  15. Very inspiring Alex. It’s great that you began to realize your dream at a young age and that gives you an advantage over someone who has started late in life. For me, it took several years to find something I really had a passion for. It’s that ambition, the drive that gives you the will power to chase a dream and ultimately make it reality. You have to visualize exactly where you want to be before you even get there and truly believe that yes, this is the life for me. I believe your setting a great example for people your age. Keep up the good work and I wish you the absolute best!

  16. Tony, what’s up man?! 😀 Thanks for stopping by!

I’m doing the best I can, and having a great time doing it dude. I really do hope to inspire others around my age (or any age really), but it’s all about the choices you make and action you take.

See you at the gym. 😀

  17. Hey Alex:

Nice post! What self help books do you or have you read that makes you think of this stuff this young? “Luck are those that learn these principles when they are young.”, Napolian Hill

  18. If its all about the people, I’ve talked to some great entrepreneurs and those in the technology industry. Now, its the challenge of meeting them face to face.

    Thanks for the motivation!

  19. Alex thanks for story great post. Oh and thank you very much for the loyalty to your existing clients with the free downloads…I have to say I love Marketers Delight 2 looks awesome mate keep up the good work !

  20. Life’s crazy isn’t it? I first talked to you when you were 14 and you had just started Blogussion.

It’s awesome to hear about your success. I am thinking of it as I inch towards living off the Internet.

  21. Oh Alex. I think this was so great. What a wonderful post. I have a big decision. Actually it’s something I have to do in order to live the life, the extraodinary life I want to live. I have put it off cause it’s kind of huge and a little scary. But I have been so miserable. I had to wait to be able to do this. It was a money thing. Now I finally after 2 years of waiting I think I can. I know doesn’t make a lot of sense, why wait.? I know. It’s just something I have never done and life changing but in a good way, just a big thing. But I have to. like you said, I jumped to write you!. It feels like something so great, that it’s not something that would happen for me! ..But if I just can wrap my head around it I think it can be. But that statement hit home to the core!. “Too good to be true” thats how it feels..
Thank you for making me feel I’m not the only one who feels that way about some things.. I would cyber hug you if I could :)) lol oh wait ! ((((Alex)))) LOL
    Colleen Kelly 😉

  22. I’ve only read 1/2 of a self-help book. Everything else, through talking to others and over-thinking everything. 😀

    Love the quote.

  23. Yeah man, I miss that site. Really had fun with it all.

Glad to see you’re still around too man. Keep killin’ it. 😀

  24. Glad you like the post. 😀

It definitely seems like you’ve put a ton of thought into this thing, and if you feel even a little confident then you should go out and make it happen. Why wait, when you could be spending that time doing. 😀

Haha, since you can’t hug me – promising to keep reading my posts will be just fine. 😉

  25. Good post dude, I bet New York is a beautiful place. I always try to see the bigger picture because if you do not the small picture will mean nothing.

  26. Hey Alex,

First off, great job on the Marketer Delight (running on my own blog at the moment) and I’m looking into some other skins for a few of my other sites.

I met Lewis (and Sean) a while ago here in Sydney and were very cool guys. Didn’t realize what they actually did and who they were when I met them but had a lot of fun hanging out with them.

I started following them more and more while the days progressed and they are very inspirational people.. so cool to read 🙂

    Anyway, take care.

    Ralph
